Construction work continues apace…

Almost everything is possible when the sky is blue…

… including earning a living as a professional musician?

A long conversation with Toyah over breakfast re: the professional life and the accommodations one makes as a professional. I play the music I feel to be right, and the accommodations I make are in the conditions I accept as part of the life, not in the music I play. Perhaps Soundscapes will find a level that supports the life of a professional. Right now, the only spaces where this works are in churches, where (at best) the costs are covered. But, this is not a professional act: it is a reflection of faith. As such, it falls outside the professional domain. Nevertheless, this is the music I am playing. How to solve this?

13.56      One suggestion for Churchscaping in the UK, is government funding. This is a suggestion from the person whose heroism, and free labour, made the English Churchscapes possible in June. From my reply…

I've already run funding by S, who knows this area from his own forays into the world of art and local government. Essentially, it's this: no. The time involved and compromises are too great. So, it comes back to: will RF carry the tab? The quick answer is, yes; the longer answer, from time to time.

… where John Sinks has artfully deployed speakers in the organ loft.

A full church with an audience of mixed generations, and a very supportive audience. A good sound, thanks to John. The music is developing.

No guitar practice or tuning of the second guitar as a result of an unexpected social call.
